Elders

The Session of Christ Community Church consists of individuals who are called by God and elected by our congregation to fulfill the duty of leading our church.  Their primary role is to be overseers of the spiritual and theological direction of the church according to God's Word and under the direction of the PCA's Book of Church Order.  Nominations are taken at specific times throughout the year for the office of Elder.  Each candidate undergoes a training process and oversight by the Session before being ordained as an officer.

The main requirements for holding the office of Elder are found in Titus 1:

An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.  Since an overseer is entrusted with God's work, he must be blameless--not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to durnkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain.  Rather he must be hospitalbe, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.  He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.
