Sleeping Giant writing clubs for 8-12 year olds are taught by children’s book author Jennifer Trafton. Through imaginative games and writing exercises, kids learn that stories are everywhere around them – in the most fantastical reaches of their imagination, in the people they meet, and in the everyday experiences of their own lives.
Someone Else’s Shoes (4 weeks, $60) – February 2, 9, 16, 23
Reading and writing stories gives us a chance to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes and see through the eyes of people who are very different from us. Using interviews, diaries, and fractured fairy tales, we’ll explore point of view, narrative voice, and character. Each student will write a first-person fictional story to be read aloud at the last meeting.
